Mumbai’s Dharavi is known as Asia’s largest slum. We always see Dharavi as a poor undeveloped location of a big metro city.

But Journalist turned entrepreneur Megha Gupta saw something unique in Dharavi.

Megha saw that there are many handcrafts workers in Dharavi who are creating very good designer products and selling them on local markets.

But She realized that they are not earning enough amount of money. For solving this issue She thinks to start an online store.

Megha begins working on her idea from researching about the Dharavi and its a craftsman.

Lots of people in Dharavi have a smartphone and by using that smartphone they can upload their product on a marketplace.

So by investing her savings of Rs. 5 lakh, She started an online marketplace. In starting She has confused about what name should be given to the website.

After a long discussion, Megha decided the name of the place itself and gave it the name of Dharavi.

Megha founded an ecommerce platform Dharavimarket.com which is providing a space to craftsmen and hardworking individuals of Dharavi whose arts and skills are needed to come to the mainstream.

The journey is not easy, She suffers a lot but her dedication to improving lives and proving a space to the people of Dharavi makes it possible.

On Dharavimarket.com, a craftsman can register himself and start uploading the details and images of his product.

After that Dharavimarket will promote his product and help him to get orders.

Not only from India, but they are also getting orders from all around the world.

The best part of Dharavi products is they all are made from textile waste.

She called craftsmen a Hero who can create best from the waste.

Dharavimarket.com is changing the myth of Indian slums and also empowering the residents.

We need more and more entrepreneurs like Megha who can help India to become an original Atamnirbhar Bharat.
